RGA Middle East hosts annual gathering of regional insurance industry CEOs

Streamline, strengthen, collaborate – these are the growth drivers around which Tony Cheng, President and future CEO (effective January 1, 2024) of Reinsurance Group of America, Incorporated (RGA), plans to move the company and the industry forward. He shared this vision for the future at a recent gathering hosted by RGA Middle East at the Address Beach Resort in Dubai, featuring insurance CEOs from throughout the region.

RGA’s gratitude for its insurer partners served as the central theme of the evening. Simon Wainwright, Executive Vice President, Head of EMEA, expressed it well: “Without the continued support and trust of you, our partners, we would be nowhere.” RGA executives reiterated the company’s long-term commitment to the region and its focus on core reinsurance growth through expansion of life and health coverage.

Olav Cuiper, Executive Vice President, and Chairman of the Board of RGA Reinsurance Company Middle East Limited, opined that in a world filled with volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity (VUCA), we need to focus, act, and make things happen through empowerment and innovation. Ashraf Al Azzouni, Managing Director of RGA Middle East, welcomed the guests and provided a brief overview of RGA Middle East’s journey since its inception in 2011.

The event also celebrated RGA’s 50th anniversary as a company since its founding in the U.S. in 1973. The gathering marked this milestone by announcing donations to two different charities in the UAE on behalf of RGA Middle East.

The event was attended by over 45 C-suite executives from partner companies and senior management colleagues from offices across RGA.
